Registration for the 2022 PLC Annual Meeting, Dinner and Log A Load for Maine Kids Auction May 13 is now underway! We have a full schedule of events and we hope to see you there! PLC Community Service Award – This Award is given annually to a PLC member, Supporting Member or affiliated organization that has demonstrated a significant commitment to giving back to their
PLC Logging Contractor of the Year Award – The PLC Logging Contractor of the Year award recognizes a PLC Logging Contractor for their commitment to the sustainability of the industry and logging as a profession.
PLC Supporting Member of the Year Award – The PLC Supporting Member of the Year Award is presented annually to a PLC Supporting Member who has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to logging contractors in Maine.
Nominations should be received no later than April 22, 2022

MLOP Program Now Recruiting Students for Summer 2022!

The Mechanized Logging Operations Program is now accepting applications for the 2022 Class starting in June of 2022. If you know of anyone who may have an interest in the program they can apply at the link below. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has announced this year’s International Roadcheck dates ar May 17-19, and will have a focus on wheel ends.
The Strengthening Supply Chains Through Truck Driver Incentives Act would provide a short-term and fast incentive to attract and retain new drivers. Specifically, the Spanberger-Gallagher bill would create a two-year (2022 and 2023) refundable tax credit of up to $7,500 for truck drivers holding a valid Class A commercial driver’s license who drive at least 1,900 hours in the year.
Logging Industry News
The Senate president is feuding with a top logging group over bills endangered by opposition from the state and industry. Over the past few days, a longstanding battle between Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, and the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine has taken off from Op-Ed pages to Facebook posts and finally to the Senate floor on Monday as Jackson-backed bills take steps toward votes in the State House.
GO Lab is retrofitting the facility to process low-quality byproducts of the state’s lumber industry — softwood sawmill chips and timber-harvest detritus that right now are hard to sell. They’ll turn it into wood-fiber insulation, called Timber HP. Some 230 million tons worth a year.
