Mechanized Logging Operations Program Graduation and PLC Board Meeting Sept. 15! RSVP Now!

*PLC Board Meeting will be held before the graduation from 8 a.m.-noon at Randall Madden’s garage! Lunch provided!

Members, please join us next Thursday Sept. 15 for the day as we hold a full PLC Board meeting from 8 a.m.-noon at Randall Madden’s garage on the Stud Mill Road in Milford and then travel to the Mechanized Logging Operations Program (MLOP) harvest site in Summit Township to attend the graduation of the sixth class beginning at 1 p.m.

We ask that you RSVP for the events using the link below. We hope you can attend both, but please come for whatever portion of the day you can. The agenda for the board meeting will be coming out next week. Thank you and hope to see you all next Thursday!

Contractors invited to visit MLOP program and meet students! Find your next employee!

The Mechanized Logging Operations Program (MLOP) class underway in the woods northeast of Old Town is less than one week from graduation (Sept. 15th). 

Do you need to hire a new operator?  Seven of the current students are available for employment and have identified the regions of the state where they would prefer to work. Learn more HERE.

If you would like to learn more about these students or would like to set up an interview, contact Donald Burr at (207)-356-1541 and let him know what position(s) you are seeking to fill.

FSC Invitation – PLC Members Encouraged to Attend Portland Event

The Forest Stewardship Council US invites you to an informal happy hour to meet FSC US President, Derik Frederiksen, the board of directors, and an array of partners from around Maine and New England.

When: Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: Portland, ME. Full Directions available after RSVP

Derik and the board will share FSC priorities in the United States, including around climate and ecosystem services, and ways to generate value for certified companies and forest owners. If you are passionate about forests and sustainability, this will be a great networking opportunity.

Light appetizers and drinks will be served.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has removed ELDorado ELD from the list of registered Electronic Logging Devices (ELD). FMCSA has placed ELDorado ELD on the Revoked Devices list due to the company’s failure to meet the minimum requirements established in 49 CFR part 395, subpart B, appendix A, effective September 7, 2022.

BOSTON (CN) — The First Circuit looked unlikely Wednesday to rule in favor of a Maine law that gives its residents an advantage when it comes to log-trucking jobs.
