Log A Load for Kids Auction on Friday, October 29
The last year has been anything, but routine. Understandably, we weren’t able to host the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine‘s annual Log A Load for Kids Auction in May. But we are back in person for Oct. 29th! This will be a chance for us to come together as an industry to do one of the things we do best – raise funds that are critical to help change the health and future of children with major health challenges right here in Maine!
The South Carolina Forestry Association started Log A Load for Kids in 1988. Originally the concept was for loggers, wood-supplying businesses, and other industry supporters to donate the value of a load of logs to their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since then the program has spread to 39 states, including Maine.
The Professional Logging Contractors of Maine joined the effort 25 years ago, and since then, loggers, friends, and supporters have raised more than $1.3 million – yes, million – for Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center!
This year, we’re hoping to donate $135,000 to our local children’s hospitals. To date, we’ve raised a little more than $42,696. The funds are vital to the two hospitals. They’ll help purchase life-saving therapies, specialized medical equipment, and the advanced training for staff who care for kids and their families who are depending on this care, as close to home as Bangor and Portland.
We hope you’ll join us on Friday, October 29th! The fun gets started at 4 pm at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Register below! Bid high, bid often! It’s all for the kids!
